In a list of text lines, this software should be able to find the first instance (left to right) of a designated character(s) in each line of text and remove all the text to the right of that character, including the character(s) itself.
For example, these three text lines are to be scrutinized:
If the designated character is ?, then the result would look like this:
I need a simple piece of software that I can run from my hard drive. It should show a major window on my screen where I can paste lines of text that are to be scrutinized and scrubbed. A small input window will allow me to enter the designated character(s) that triggers the erase function, e.g., the character ? in the example above. I should also be able to input more than one character, such as // instead of ?. And of course a 'start' button. When the process if finished, I should be able to use CTL-A to select all the text so I can copy it to a notepad, or have some way for me to copy the text to the clipboard.
Can you also provide an option to remove text to the left of the designated character, and provide a second quote, if necessary, for this additional option.
I use Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium Edition with Service Pack 2.
