We have a table with a TZ col.. Data Type: binary(12) TZ is always 12 bytes long, and each bit represents 15 minutes. So 12 bytes x 8 bits = 96 x 15 minutes = 24 hours. We need a stored procedure for checking if @dateTimeA (variable date time) is within TZ to check if we are now inside a TZ (timezone) is something like this : bool bNowInTZ = false; CTZSet setTZ; [login to view URL] ("ID=%d", nTZ); [login to view URL] (); if ([login to view URL] () == false) { int nBit = [login to view URL] () * 4 + [login to view URL] () / 15; if ([login to view URL] (nBit/8) & (1<<(nBit&7))) bNowInTZ = true; } [login to view URL] (); please start comment with CSQL20

CSQL20 I see that you are using TZ column as a BIT MASK in that 96 different bits allow you to store 96 different timezones. So, in order to find the timezone that is present in TZ column, one has to perform bitwise operation and check whether corresponding bit is set or not. The code you provided is C# equivalent for this bit fiddling. Now, you want to do that in T-SQL. Have I followed? I can do that but have a question. None of the data types in SQL Server expect DATETIMEOFFSET support storing of timezone information. So, the input parameter to the stored proc should be a DATETIMEOFFSET and NOT other types such as DATETIME, DATETIME2, etc. Please explain. Thanks
