I am a PhD student doing some research in NLP. I need to setup the above environment to try out some ideas in my research. Can you quote on how much it would cost for a small Scala project with the following functional objects that I can use to kick-start my work. Core -- message passing controller to the various functions below: ---- Furhat Robotics Emulator via Java driver (basically accept and return a sentence (string)) ---- spark NLP (take sentence; return processed result List(Strings)) ---- Neo4j (use neotype driver (Scala driver over a java driver)) I would like to create a basic functional project that: • takes the input from Furhat emulator • sends it to spark/Stanford NLP (I manage the program to decompose it ) • based on the returned information, action some CRUD interactions with the Neo4j database • build a response and feed it back to Furhat emulator I’m am just after a rudimentary framework that allows me to start doing some stuff while I work out my ideas. FYI: I am using Intellij IDEA as my dev environment.

Hi, I actually setup a very similar project for my own company - we were pushing news streams into an NLP service ( also using the Standford library ) into Elasticsearch to calculate coronavirus emotional sentiment. No surprise it was predominantly quite dark :) Given my background and current work within Scala and data engineering, I'm pretty comfortable to take this on with you. Do you need any online hosting setup? I've also worked with AWS Glue, this is based on Spark so if you need very large datasets we could potentially set this up, its not that hard. I propose the following -> setup a middleware application ( we'll connect the Furhat, spark NLP service, and Neo4j endpoint through here ). I can connect this together with an Akka stream, to keep it simple and scalable -> dockerize the application and Neo4j server - you'll want this if you decide to scale it up anyway, and makes it much easier if you want to modify something later -> if you need hosting, I can help you setup an environment in Scaleway - these are very cheap but effective cloud hosting servers. Do you need Neo4j running in its own space, or any backup services running prepared? Documentation and testing are a given obviously - and we can walk through the code together, so you are able to extend it on your afterwards. Look forward to your feedback, hope your PHD project is going well!
