This happens because the program prematurely ends without waiting for your threads to finish. Simple solution would be modifying it to use "threading" (higher level) module instead of "thread".

It seems to be an environment error. Your starting the python program from a bash/shell script? With a simple team viewer remote exec I can find out the program.
