Forum like MySpace

I have a site that's similar to myspace, except the forum needs some tweaking so that users can quote other people, and I need to cut down a step it takes for someone to post a message. Right now the user posts a topic, then has to come back to post the actual message. I need the user to be able to post a topic and message in one step - basically I'm looking for functionality just like [login to view URL]'s forum. The forum is pretty basic, and I'm guessing the coding is about 80% there by itself, I just need some features and tweaks done.
