I want a Windows application, with a simple Windows GUI, that can do the following: In Elsevier's Scopus database ([[login to view URL]][1]) are many scientific journals and the articles in them. To calculate "impact scores" for an arbitrary journal, I need to have the following data. Suppose I am interested in the journal "(European) Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management". If I run the query "purchasing" in "Source Title" on the Scopus database, I get all articles.
The program should be able to follow the "next page" link. Let's look at the first two lines, it says:
2004 / If all you have … discourse / Ramsay / Journal of … / 0
2004 / Developing … studies / Kulmala / Journal of … / 0
Next, if you click on [Abstract+Refs] for the first paper, you get a page with the references in the article. The first one is:
Ealajoutsijarvi, K., Eriksson, P., Tikkanen, H.
Metaphors ... discourse (1998) Proceedings of the … pp. 11-30
Turku School of … September 3-5
From this, I want to save the "1998" and the title of the journal "Proceedings of the 14th Annual Conference", in a variable year1, and a variable journal1. This I want for all references. It may happen that it is not so easy to determine when the journal title ends. Please take some care in your programming.
Finally, I want to end up with a file that looks like this:
Search string: "purchasing"
Year / Document / Author / Source title / Cited by / year1 / journal1 / year2 / journal2 / year3…
2004 / If all you have … discourse / Ramsay… / Journal of … / 0 / 1998 / <title> / <year2> / <title2>
2004 / Developing … / Kulmala… /
.
.
.
1996 / …
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
## Platform
Deliverables:
Windows program (program can assume that pc is connected to the internet). Program must allow entering <username> and <password> for the Scopus database, and search query for journal ("source title"). Program must then write the abovementioned data to a ascii file. No installation other than the installation of the program should be necessary. No installing servers or any of that matter. Speed of the program is not an issue, correctness is.
Difficulty: the Scopus database has no free access. You will need to borrow my username and password during the writing of your program code.
