For pathophysiology (medicine) topic: diabetes.
A 32-year-old female patient in her second pregnancy, referred by a gynecologist, came to the diabetology clinic with the results of an oral glucose tolerance test performed in the 25th week of pregnancy: fasting blood glucose 117 mg/dL, 1 h of OGTT Uoral glucose tolerance test) 245 mg/dL, 2 h of OGTT 212 mg/dL. Before pregnancy, the patient's BMI was 28.8 kg/m2, and fasting plasma glucose at the first visit to the gynecologist was 91 mg/dL. The patient gained 13 kg from the beginning of pregnancy.
Is it diabetes, and if so, what type?
Are any more tests needed to confirm the diagnosis?
What treatment should be introduced?
What may be the early and long-term health consequences of hyperglycaemia in pregnancy for the baby and for the mother?
I need the answers and also the reason for any answers. Until tomorrow european time 9 am.
Text me if you can help me.
Thanks
