I've been going through the perceptual system for image fusion paper, and I find it interesting how wavelet transforms can help fuse two images while keeping put their individual edges and contrast information. I've worked with wavelets before and image processing is my interested domain, so if IT IS STILL AVAILABLE, I'd like to start working on it, right away from tomorrow. And, I've read about the requirements to add improvement to the code. However, in this case the use GUI is not much useful in my opinion as the inputs are just two images, that is much easier done using just a user input dialog browser box. Also,since you've not mentioned anything specifically, I'm guessing that the 2000 words document is an informal one (for understanding) and you would not need any further assistance beyond that.
