Illustrator: one word with gold effect in vectorial mode

![][1] I need a gold effect on the word GALLERY. You can see the sample I made, saw from far the effect seems good but from near it is not good at all. I need this effect made with lines and gradient only in illustrator (I use AI 10). I want to see how you do, You can use the soft camstudio to record your screen. The effect must be better than mine. If you have a sample it's better. The final work must be in .ai (AI 10) vectorial format.
