Flash Development

Hello! I have been working with flash a little bit for a class project. I need some help completing an assignment. Here is the assignment... For this assignment you will be building an interactive Flash story, starring one of Cleo the fluffy-bum cat, or Rufus the long-eared dog, or Paul the grumpy hippo (or all three!). This is a “Choose your own adventure”. While the overall look and feel of the story is up to you, there are specific requirements that must be met. Your story must : • Be only 1 fla file • Include audio throughout in the story (15% for appropriate sound use, including synch settings) • The story should start with a “menu” with an inviting graphic, and an invitation to “start the adventure”. • The menu should be interactive, playing with the user. Buttons should respond to mouse overs and “click” when touched (or have some other audio sound.) (25%) • Have a preloader of some fashion (5% for basic preloader, up to 10% if your preloader displays the percentage remaining, or visually shows how much information remains to be downloaded). • The movie should be at least 5 scenes long. More scenes are welcome if you feel they advance the story. 1. The intro menu (discussed above) 2. The “setup” (a short animation about the character, possibly subtitled or narrated). 3. The decision (your character has a choice to make, and I as the viewer should be presented with 2 buttons. If I select one choice, I go to ending one, if I select another choice, I go to the second ending). 4. Ending One 5. Ending Two • Don’t be afraid of theatrics and audio. • Technical execution is important, well named layers, symbols, organization, etc (20%) • Engaging story and experience (15%) • 10% comes from clear execution of the story, choices, dialog, consistency and professionalism • 5% for allowing some form of customization of the story. Perhaps I can pick my character, perhaps you ask me my name and my name is used during the story, etc. Example Story: Scene 1 – menu featuring interactive buttons, picture of Cleo the cat carrying a lunch pail. The title says “Cleo’s first day of School!”. When user presses the play button, scene 2 starts Scene 2 – Cleo leaves the house, and is offered a ride by her best friend. Scene 3 – Oh oh, a decision to make! Should I get on the bus, or get a ride with my best friend? (2 buttons, left goes to ending 1, right goes to ending 2) Scene 4 (ending 1) – Cleo gets a ride to school with her best friend and they get to school early enough that they have time to go to the lunchroom where Cleo shares her cookies! They have a wonderful day at school, and Cleo can’t wait until tomorrow. Movie ends, and user is prompted to play again (the play again button takes me to the main menu). Scene 5 (ending 2) – Cleo gets on the bus, and the only seat left is beside “the new girl”. It turns out they become the best of friends, and now Cleo has made a new best friend! Movie ends, and user is prompted to play again (the play again button takes me to the main menu).
