Solve segmentation fault in a c++ program

I have lots of experiences on embedded programming (c and c++) and these kind of problems are very common among c and c++ programmers. Just for your knowledge the problem is not "malloc" itself, before this line (malloc) you did something wrong with your heap and that causes problem for your malloc function.

Hi First of all I suggest strncat like someone already did. strncat(res, switch_encode(buf[i]), 3600); Then I suggest to print the value of the string it seems messy to me. Like: int len = strlen(buf); for (int i=0; i < len; i++) { strncat(res, switch_encode(buf[i]), 3600); printf("%d \"%s\"\n", i, res); } If it does not work I'am here on freelancer.com looking for a first customer.
