XML Import & Layout of Content in Adobe InDesign

We are needing help to import data into Adobe InDesign in order to avoid a huge amount of manual formatting. It appears that Adobe InDesign can import data via XML so am looking for someone very experienced in this type of XML import processing of data into InDesign. Source Data is currently stored in MySQL or SQL Database. The data is sacred writings and poetry of Sikh saints and other like minded saints from India. There are two main components of the data. Original Gurmukhi language text (ASCI text displayed with foreign language font) and then second would be English translation. This would be displayed in two columns side by side (see attached sample PDF. Towards the end of the PDF you can see what the unformulated text looks like). The data is stored in MySQL/SQL database line by line for each language version. One of the major goals is to have the text for each line be directly across. So the original language text line should be lined up with the English translation to the right. Sometimes the translation is longer so adjustments have to be made to tweak spacing/style in order to keep text lined. There are some other basic formatting items that need to be done as well. There is a lot of data (approx 3,200 pages total. Content will be split into 4-6 book volumes with max of 800 total pages per volume.) So we would like to hire someone who has experience with this to do a proof of concept with a small subset of 10-20 pages of data to see if this method will work.
