For the hardware, I want to use components (audio cards) that should allow the server to process as many audio streams in parallel and in real-time as possible (the selection of hardware should be done on a (minimal) cost per stream basis). The server is not manipulating or caching/storing the Audio data. Once the audio is extracted from A/D converters the data packages (10-25 msec) should be converted into a compressed audio format that allows it to be streamed to a client (using RTP).
