Instagram has some similarities with an augmented reality art creation app that I developed call ARSSN (search for it on the App Store). It allows the user to take pictures by swiping a crop box across the screen, filter and rotate the picture, place it in 3D space around the viewer, add brush strokes and animated effects, and then when they're done with it publish to cloud servers, sorted by geo-location, and allow links to be shared across social media, created works to be voted on, searched, and viewed, in an immersive 3D environment.
