Looking to develop a mobile app for blackberry (and possibly iphone and other mobile devices). Application is preferrably installed on the device.
The application will be based around sportsbook odds on various sporting events - from baseball and football to auto racing and international soccer.
I have access to XML feeds with all the data which the application would read in and attractively display on the users device. Initial development includes intuitive display of this data and some simple shortcuts to view only single sports (or set favorite sports).
Examples:
Side/Total Betting:

Different sports are wagered a little differently. Baseball is bet as a moneyline (no point spread). Football is bet as a point spread (moneyline fixed at -110, usually). Hockey uses a combination of points and spread. Soccer uses moneyline, but there is also an option to bet on a draw. These all need to be considered when displaying the odds. I’ve personally done the logic on the example website above (all in classic ASP)
Future Wagering:

Some bets are wagered as futures. Sometimes this is for sports better wagered in this format, like auto racing… Sometimes it is for a sport forecasting who will win the championship. You can see the examples.
Related Files: (I just pulled these, so they represent the current lines as of this moment… This version will not be updating yet. Also realize the summer is off-season for basketball, football, hockey, etc so those lines aren’t available right now (I can mock them up as time requires)
The XML feed I’d like to use can be found here:

This feed is much more consistent in format – than the one below. It is just harder to identify the future lines (they appear as separate wagers, but we can probably use logic around this?)
Alternatively… We could use this one (it may be easier):

It is more familiar to me, but has some quirks – it isn’t a well thought out xml strategy… but I worry about it disappearing without warning.
And last, I would like the advertising to be XML enabled. I envision a file I keep, such as the file below and is plugged into the app. I am very open to suggestions on this front…

To keep the project defined, here is my view of the project specifics.
Project Goals:
<OL type=1>
Develop a working application for blackberry phones (all current releases, curve pearl, etc)
Attractively and intuitively display lines for all sports <OL type=a>
Sort/display lines by sport (tabs or such to select different sports)
Sort/display by game time (show only today’s games, tomorrow, this week..
Allow users to select their favorite sports
Homepage shows games coming up today, separated by sport, sorted by time
Sport pages show quick view of all games, sorted by date/time
Click on the game for full details of game (futures would need to be displayed on this level, I think)
Allow user to set an alarm to monitor if a line changes
Odds should automatically update every 2 hours or by manual request
Extras outside the scope of this project (but can be discussed with the winning bidder). Please do not consider these when quoting time/money:
<OL type=1>
Other mobile platforms
Allow user to select their favorite teams
Pretend bet tracking <OL type=a>
User enters their wager in “units” (locks in a spread and moneyline)
User tells device whether bet win/lose/push
Keeps running tab (option to reset to zero) of “score”
Include final scores after game is played (yesterday’s games). Right now, the source for this information is not clear and would need to be found
Open to suggestions….
If you are interested, please submit a bid.
