Setting up Windows SBS2008

Hi, I have made several installation of SBS solutions. A few notes on your architecture, SBS is now on version 2011, so unless you already have already bought it. Although running your Web site on the SBS it is not usually recommended as the server also hosts pretty much all your business and if compromised, then it would be a problem .... Please get back to me if you are interested in talking more about what could be an optimal solution for your needs. PS I do have a ...problem. Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this. I currently work for an SME specialist (Small, Medium Enterprise as we call them in the UK) as a senior technical consultant and in this role deploying SBS networks are my bread and butter projects. As I'm in the UK I would need to do the work remotely with either yourself putting a flat operating system on the server unless it has something similar to the HP ILO card in? (this allows a user to remote control/access a server when it is powered off). In light of the remote working my bid and deposit are both low, to give you confidence I will get the job done. You mentioned backups and dumb terminals in the project, the use of dumb terminals with SBS requires another server (whether physical or virtual) so another server operating system license (although if you purchased SBS premium you already have the extra license). Backup software comes included in SBS with is functional and easy to use, note that it will not work with tape drives it will only backup to a NAS or USB drive. There are better products on the market depending what you wish to spend If you like the sound of my bid we can discuss the ups and downsides of these by Skype if you prefer, also I am happy to discuss the bid further with me prior to deciding on your supplier. I spent 13 years as a systems integrator doing these exact projects. I first started with NT 4 with Exchange 5.5 and have worked with every version of Windows Server and Exchange since. I have also set up websites with both IIS and Apache. I have worked with tape, disk-to-disk, and cloud-based backups. I am curious if you already have the hardware purchased as you are asking advise on redundancy and a lot of that will be from a hardware perspective. Also - would/could you install Windows SBS to the point where I could connect remotely? Thanks for the consideration! Brad

Hi Steve, I'd love to help support you in your project. I've been supporting Small Business networks for the last 6 years - not just SBS but Full 2003/2008/2012 Server which means I've had the experience of installing Active Directory, IIS, Exchange etc from scratch, so if we do find any problems I'm in a much better position to troubleshoot. I've fully configured Citrix XenApp and set up HP Thin Clients to connect to it, configuring them to use RDP shouldn't be a challenge. All you'd need to do is get the box online and me remote access to it and then I can do as much or as little of the project for you as you like.
