I can do MS SQL also, but am much better in firebird. It is cheaper after all, and also the database is portable to any OS (besides Windows), if you ever want to do something like that. Are you looking to reduce your costs short term or long term? This is more a recommendation to you than a bid, but I'm happy to talk to you about the actual project if you need my services. If you're looking to reduce short term costs, and don't care about long term costs, then you should go with a php developer or a fixed price from someone who uses Microsoft technologies. The reason I say this is because php developers are plentiful, and thus cheap. Microsoft developers are also plentiful, although not always cheap. The problem with both is that none of these technologies attract the best developers. In fact, it's closer to the opposite. Php is quite a messy language, made to accommodate lots of different programming styles. As you can expect from that, 100 php developes may end up solving the same problem in 100 different ways, and 10 of them will do it in a way the 20 others will not understand at all. This makes it very hard, and expensive, to maintain, even if hourly rates are rock bottom. People gravitating towards proprietary technologies are often doing so because they don't have the time and resources to learn a new language or technology by themselves. I am sure you can relate. The best developers however, *take* time, whether they have it or not, to learn the best technologies. They tend to gravitate towards open source languages like Ruby and Python, and although more expensive, they tend to get more done in the same time, and make maintenance easier&cheaper.
