This is most likely being caused by either an error or missing rewrite rules in your htaccess file. In very rare cases the problem is that mod_rewrite is disabled on the server. Thought that does not happen very often. I have 10 years experience developing with Wordpress. I solve issues like this for clients on an almost daily basis. I can definitely help you with this.
