We need a zip code boundaries layer over a Google map instance. A good example is [login to view URL] but to take it a step further, opposed to each zip code being a separate color, we need the zip codes grouped by color; for instance 33624 & 33625 might be one color and 33615 & 33634 might be another color.
Color coding also needs separation between 2 categories of groups (perhaps different shades); for instance 33624 might be light red & 33625 might be dark red.
The Google map instance should be able to be viewed in a stand-alone HTML page or in a HTML container inside an existing page.
Zip code groups would need to be imported or queried via API (for instance, via JSON (e.g., [[33624,33625],[33615,33634]])) and would require a central marker that provides information when clicked (acquired via API). We will Not need control over the color of each group but each group of zip codes should be obviously separated. We would need the ability to run a search to locate a specific zip code and see which group it is found in.
We have several ”area directors” who govern specific zip code groups. If we receive a call for service outside of a governed zip code, we want to know who the closest area directors are. There are a couple other scenarios where we will use this map but that will be the most common one.
The end user types a zip code in a search field and, after the end user submits the query, the map shows the location searched and all surrounding, color coded zip code groups.
The end user clicks on a marker in the center zip code of a zip code group and information regarding that area director pops up.
