Hi
I don't mind how the following is done, i.e. you can extract the data into a variable or convert the Word doc into a plain text file etc. I'll leave it to you.
I would like to extract some job vacancies data from a Word document, create a series of SQL statements and INSERT the data into a MySQL database. The good news is that the jobs are set out in a template and the headings are consistent enough to extract the data. Please see the PDF file to see what I mean.
I have highlighted a sample of jobs to show the data I want to extract each time. They are:
1. Job Title - yellow highlight
2. Job Reference - green highlight
3. Job Description - blue highlight
4. Job Type - red highlight
5. Salary - pink highlight (but not jobs have salary information, so just enter nothing)
6. Job Location - grey highlight
Each job follows the above outline.
I want a PHP script to loop through all the jobs (included in the Word document attached), extract the relevant pieces of data and construct an SQL INSERT statement to place the data into a table with the following fields:
vacID - PK, auto-increment
vacTitle
vacRef
vacDesc
salaryText
workLocText
Don't worry about connecting to the database. Simply echo out the INSERT statements - that's enough for me :) I realise that the above table is not normalised - don't worry about this as it's just for test purposes and I'm more interested in seeing how to extract the data!
Thanks
Jake
