Hello there. I am glad I was alerted to your project. I have deployed Openvpn just about every way possible. I recently deployed a server in AWS with 6 site to site IPSec tunnels. I can write you instructions for openvpn configuration (or if you are less tech savvy I'd suggest softether which is supporting, inter alia, openvpn amongs bunch of other protocols), my offer includes only basic setup (there are scenarios that could require some advanced config/routing that require more time to have all tested and written down). Debian instructions will be practically the same as for Ubuntu
