Hi there, This is Bogdan from Romania. I'm a mechanical engineer - specialized in the industrial robotic field, 3D designer and modeler (from time to time and some projects I could make the functional prototype too). I'm doing product design, industrial design, reverse engineering, ideation, etc. I have over 15 years experience working on various systems/devices across multiple industries, from concept to launch. 1 - do you want a "virgin" board for the sculpture (where people come and put their locks) or a "populated" board (where will already be lot of locks)?... 2 - as you want the piece to be wall mounted, it is necessary to be quite thick and feature at least 5 concrete anchors, as the board will become very heavy with all the locks attached 3 - i see this piece as you stated in a carved wood, with stainless steel frame (satin finish - mirror finish is harder to maintain clean, and show off any dirty spot), with different eyelets types/sizes/position and the people come and populate it 4 - my advice - behind the wooden heart to have a metallic background (same size/shape) to which to attach the eyelets and also to serve as a reinforcement. the wood will crack in time, and it could be possible to collapse under the weight of the locks Regards Bogdan

Hi, Well I have a few questions about the design... The quote is just for design - I'd recommend taking it to a fabricator near you - shipping from a low cost region might be to risky - design issues and cost of shipping etc. You mentioned that you want to put on a wall ... these locks are heavy and it will need heavy duty fasteners - lag bolts ... 1/2 inch at least and likely 4-6 of them into something just as strong. I did the design in AL thinking about corrosion but it might be too expensive ( material and welding ) Maybe you want to rust though ... it would look cool ! Anyway, if you want to see a preliminary design check out my profile and the only pic I have in there is your heart lock design... Would be happy to work with you on this ... not sure if you wanted just the design or the design and build materials plus labour in the quote though...
