Design and Develop a Virtual Reality Game
Green Village Medical Centre located in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs wishes to have Virtual Reality game for treating children’s stress. Green Village Medical Centre after conducting a satisfaction survey from their customers realised that patients who visit the medical centre with kid(s) are not happy about the facilities provided for children while they are waiting for their appointment.
The management group of the medical centre after having several meetings for solving the problem they came up with the idea of having two kid stations with VR headset/google cardboard and run a VR game for kids, also providing the YouTube links for parents to watch the VR game environment, in the case of having more than two kid patients waiting.
Project Specifications:
Target audience is children between 3 to 5 years old
Happy colours need to be picked for this game (yellow, orange, green, pink and blue…)
Unity game engine is the recommended tool
The game should start with a splash screen followed by a menu
The name and logo of the Medical Centre should be at the beginning of the game (in the menu or splash screen)
Minimum of three 3D models must be designed
Minimum of four levels must be included in the game
The player must be included in the game (First person or third person character)
- Must be able to navigate around the environment
- Must be able to shoot or interact with the target or enemy
- Must have a health system
Minimum two different environments are expected (for instance inside a house and a yard) (Can be free environment packs available on the Unity Asset Store or team’s own design)
- Must be at least two complete levels for the game being designed highlighting controls and movements
- The level must be bound, and the player will not be able to jump off or fall through any obvious gaps in geometry
- Will have a terrain texture painted or texture applied
- Use of at least 2 different special effects, e.g. Fire, smoke, water, snow, rain, sparks
Some reference to the driving point of the overall narrative either through dialogue, on screen messages or event cinematics, must be included in the game
Stages of Design and Development
After gathering all the information, client requirements and defining what the game is about for this project, now it is time to start designing and developing the game. Design and development process for this project is divided into two stages:
Stage 1
At this point, team members should brainstorm how to give life to the many ideas that are discussed in the planning phase. From here team should prototype all the elements of the game (Characters, environment, interfaces) to see how they look and interact with one another.
Technical prototyping should be completed in a way that assures the process is feasible.
A precise and descriptive Game Design Document (GDD) should be completely developed based on client requirements. GDD is one of the main documents in this project which helps every member of the team on board and provides them with a better vision of the project. GDD is a live document and it gets constantly updated through all stages of development.
All the 3D objects, characters, looks and sounds should be perfectly designed and added to the game environment.
At the end of this stage of the game design and development project, the Alpha version of the game should be ready, which means the main features are added and the game is fully playable. Some elements like splash screen, logo, menu and some art assets may still need to be added but the game should be working properly.
The QA tester should test the alpha version and make sure everything is running smoothly. QA tester should report the errors (bug sheet) to lead programmer and programmer.
Stage 1 Deliverables (see Module 2 - Stage 1 Project Deliverables for more detail)
Game Design Document
Alpha version of the game
Stage 2
After the Alpha release of the game now it is time to apply all the necessary changes. Game content may be needed to be changed and new elements may need to be added to the game. Designing and development of splash screen and menu should be finalized, and all the assets should be completed and added to the game.
The final version of the Game Design Document should be created containing all the changes happened throughout the development project.
A Technical Design Document should be created and be finalized at the end of this stage covering all the project’s technical requirements as well as the tools and techniques required for technical implementation.
At the end of this stage of the game design and development project, the Beta phase should be completed and the final version of the game should be ready to be released. All the content and assets should be integrated. The game must be tested and ready to be launched.
QA tester should look for bugs and make sure that everything is running seamlessly, and all the instructions are clear for players.

Testing Documents
Hello,
I have 7 years of experience in game designing and I have worked on 3D as well as 2D games. I have read the description of the project and this seems like just the kind of work I was looking for and am good at.
I have designed many games and I can provide you samples if required. I am sure I can do this for you in minimum time and cost.
Price is negotiable. Please discuss details before confirming.
Thanks
An Experienced Game Tester on the platform of AR, VR, PC and Consoles.
I have tested multiple VR games on Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, HTC Vibe, Google Cardboard and Sony VR. I have tested PC Console games like RDR2, GTA, Mortal Combat, etc.
