I have some 100+ dwg files in a folder. A list of filenames of those 100+ files is in an excel table column. I have a second table that has data validation turned on with a list of all filenames from the first column. I make to make it so every time a user hovers their mouse over the list in the drop down box or selects a file, a preview image of that file is displayed so the user can see what they have selected. I would later be requiring this work for other folders with various various range of .dwg files to achieve the same function in other excel tables. An alternative to this could be a separate C#.net app or some other app that allows for a quick preview and then loads the filename in the selected cell. I'm open to ideas. I would prefer if you could achieve this function by using Excel VBA or C#.Net. In your bid, please provide your proposal on how you would make it work. Happy to discuss further before the project is award so you are clear on the requirements. At the end of the project, all source code has to be provided to me.

I can Do the job! I would make miniature pictures of every AutocadFile (with another automation program) and insert each picture when mouse hovers over cell. We can insert all pics in file (would need to check final file size) or if size ends up being an issue, I would load files from a file folder containing all pics (drawback, pop up might be a bit slower). We would check to see which works better. I'm an engineer with advanced working knowledge and experience in Excel VBA and VBA interaction between different software (Word, excel, powerpoint, access, autocad etc.). Proficient coder in VB.Net, C#, Python, VB6. Actually I have created a VB .net application like a Windows Explorer with thumbnail preview included. So I'm able to extract a thumbnail preview from a DWG file. I will be able to do the same thing inside Excel. I would like to include a screen capture of my application but it's not possible through this proposal. Hello good day. I have read you requirements and it appears you need an application that helps your user to preview .dwg files before selecting them. I have over 3 years of experience in C# and .net development and I can do this task for you in 2 days ( 4 max). Good morning friend, I would do it in excel and link each column to the images of each file .dwg To do this I would generate a database that includes the list of plans with a list of images taken from autocad, it can be a screen print of the file , or images that you provide me.
