Yes DC motor is best idea for accuracy in position because I already used for my Waiter robot and I used DC motors to complete the position Accuracy with PID control program. Hi, According to your Requirements ,you basically require a 2 Axis- motorized positional system. Your approach with nema 23 motors is correct however using screw drive (ball screw) is an overkill. I can design a better cost efficient system that can easily be controlled via 2 dedicated motors and a scalable and simple circuit. I have designed many CNCs and 3D printers that uses similar mechanism for movement. Before we even start anything i can share a complete animation of a 3d model that can be tweakeed to your liking so that we don't have to spend a lot on revising the system.
