This code is a desktop application that only seems to be designed to read (.wmv) wmv3, WMV9 or WVC1 videos. It can open Windows Media Video 7, 8 video or other video that ffmpeg has encoded with 'msmpeg4v2', but regardless it fails in the viewing quality department if not encoded with WMV9.
Your job would be to keep the Videoplayer2 controls the same, as the current users are used to it. But make it so that it can read more types of video files, and with different codecs, and with the proper quality.
Perhaps there is some easy libraries that need to be included that will make this really simple. I'm not sure. Currently it is set to open only one type of file... 'wmv'.
The current project consists of the VideoPlayer2 solution. It references MFCopy libraries and some references from this 'libyuv'. Prolly a codec. MFCopy is something microsoft supported for a while, than abandoned.
Make sure it compiles 'Win32'. (x64 is for another day) With Visual Studio 2013, or 2010. You may/will need to import/dump some other libraries to get the above codec demands to work.
There are just a couple of sample videos in the same videos folder. If you need, I'm sure you can come up with other videos to test. Or chat me.
The simple controls in the video-player allow for slowing the frames down, speeds-up, brightness, contrast, and it automatically repeats play.
Another option is to mimic the look and feel... on-top of another working engine. Since this is so old and out of date. Just a last thought.
