Hello. I am a Canadian writer and editor who has been working since the early 1990s. I began my editing career with a publishing company, where I worked for two years. I also served as a full-time legal editor for four years; in this job, I edited patents, technical and legal documents, and general correspondence. I also have an extensive record of freelance editing and writing, and I am able to handle substantial rewrites and more challenging material, which includes medical documents: I am also a trained medical transcriptionist.
My specialty is dealing with documents written by non-native speakers of English, so I am comfortable with handling vague, poorly worded, and confusing material that presents multiple grammatical and logical issues. The nature of my work has taught me to be a perfectionist, and I carefully consider the meaning of each sentence and always perform multiple edits.
My bid reflects my standard hourly rate, and my rate for 1000 words would be almost the same, though I could charge less or more depending on the complexity of the work.
I should be able to send you a short piece written by a native Chinese speaker once my proposal is submitted; my changes are marked up.
Thank you for considering me.
Sincerely,
Mark
