As an independent publisher, I have experience doing final editing on several books. I graduated with a BA specialized in TESL, which involved much helping write academic books and took a course on helping students write papers. My studies covered how to proof edit for accidental plagiarism. I worked with several Korean roommates; I taught them to check their papers for proper citation and paraphrasing verses quoting.
I have also been working as a consultant for a foundation that is trying to recover ownership of books after several years of not enforcing the foundation's ownership. This has given me experience with the laws of the United States in copyright, as well as an understanding of issues brought up by the internet and the vast flow of information it causes.
The last book I edited is "Heather's Tears: The Story of An American Orphan." This book also brought up some legal issues around including identifiable characteristics of people in any book with true events. I did final editing of this book in 2 days.
I would love to look over your book, and edit for flow and grammar, as well as check out your use of references. I do enjoy when self-help books cite sources, because it gives me, as the reader, additional tools to deal with my issues. I would have a goal of being done by Friday afternoon, May 2nd, Denver, CO, USA time.
