Please note: Completion of a test is required for consideration of this position. We pay a nominal fee for the test which will be added to your first project payment when you join our team. Dr. Davies runs a successful professional writing service and is looking for perfectionists with quality control and editing and proofreading experience. You will be required to quality control (QC) various types of documents: academic, dossiers, whitepapers, articles, etc. Strong comprehension skills are of the highest priority. The QC performs four primary tasks when reviewing work: 1. Ensure that the work is plagiarism-free. 2. Assess a written project to ensure that it complies with all requirements within the brief/job description. Of particular importance is to ensure that the content is concise and logical, as well as in agreement and complete fulfillment with the project guidelines. 3 Submit an error-free paper. This entails proofreading to ensure there is correct syntax, grammar, and spelling. If work is particularly shoddy, we do not expect you to do all corrections, but to send the work back to the writer for them to proofread and amend accordingly. 4. To edit for clarity, flow, and overall improvement. Additional skills required include:  Exceptional comprehension skills – a piece of work can have perfect grammar, but if it doesn’t fit the client brief it is of no use.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills –you will be required to collaborate and work closely with other members of the team, as the QC interacts frequently with the writer, providing constructive comments for work improvement.  Detail-orientated with the ability to adhere to job descriptions and follow instructions.  Referencing skills – the work is mostly evidence-based.  Reliability – we need projects completed on time to ensure we provide a high quality of service to our customers. The QC is ultimately responsible for the quality of the end product. This may require revisions by the writer and a project is not considered complete until the QC is completely satisfied that the writer has achieved this objective. The pay is based on the final word count of the project and ranges between £6 ($8) and £9 ($11) per 1000 words, depending on the skill of the writer and the amount of time and editing required. The fee stated for this project ($5) is the test fee, but all other work will be paid by wordcount. Please check our feedback, which shows us to be a well-based, reliable client. We are a friendly team and look forward to welcoming you. Please begin your proposal with "I understand the difference between QC and editing."

I understand the difference between QC and editing (and I would like to take your test). I am an English teacher and lecturer in Leeds, with a Master's in Linguistics and experience as a content writer and editor. I have exceptional language skills - my educational background and career history are testament to this. As I lecture in Creative Writing, I am also very well-versed in delivering content with an excellent pace and flow and I have worked on a range of documents; academic is obviously my strength, but I have also worked with novels, news items, informative articles etc. I understand the importance of following a brief - the whole point of QC is to ensure that all aspects are met; not just language. I also have experience with SEO, if that is ever the focus of a brief. Get in touch - I'm very interested in securing ongoing work and would like to take the test. Kind Regards Simon Richardson

I understand the difference between QC and editing. I am a highly experienced proof reader and copy editor and you can be fully assured of my technical ability and credentials. The correct use of apostrophes, commas and grammar and those pesky spelling rules, that confuse everyone, might make you squirm but send your words to me and you won't believe how transformed your text will be. I have many years of experience, and over the years, I have edited several eBooks, manuscripts, magazines, journal publications, website content, articles and brochures. I am happy to simply proofread (catch errors), but I also enjoy in-depth editing, which involves improving readability, offering suggestions and restructuring when necessary. If your project needs careful fact-checking and an eagle eye for eliminating typos and correcting spelling and grammatical errors, I would be happy to help. Thank you for visiting my page! Look forward to hearing from you.
