In fact, there are few legal requirements for the distribution of tips and service charges in the hospitality sector, and businesses can even choose to keep all monies themselves. What they must not do, though, is use tips to make up the National Minimum Wage or distribute them in cash without telling HMRC. I am a CPA and ACA with 10 years’ experience in the accounting, bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements, profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, review and reconciliation of accounts, bank reconciliation, tax statements, Tax returns, the filing of Income tax and VAT returns, Quarterly & Annual reports etc. I have over 4 years’ well-versed experience in QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB, Wave and other software.
