CHAPTER 1: Performance evaluation of different receiver types and radio channel models for pulse communication
oRadio channel models in different environments
oAnalysis of :
-Receive types : MMSE, ML, RAKE receivers
-Impact of the number of RAKE receiver’s branches
Analyze different channel models in different environments and how they are affected from the physical environment. Moreover, how optimal receivers work will be discussed and how these can be improved.
CHAPTER 2: Evaluation of the impact of synchronization errors and noise
Time synchronization and multipath diversity impact on the performance of an Ultra Wideband system will be analyzed.
CHAPTER 3: Extension of the analysis to MIMO systems
CHAPTER 1 - Ultra-Wideband Receivers
Different channel models (i.e. Turin’s model) will be investigated and how the signal distorts and fades and how the effects of the multipath fading can be measured with a RAKE receiver. Moreover, how inter symbol interference is caused and how can be confronted will be marked and finally, how the optimal receivers work will be discussed.
CHAPTER 2 - The impact of synchronization errors and noise
This section will report the effects of time synchronization in the communication between the transmitter and the receiver in Ultra-wideband systems. It will be explained what happens if the terminals are not synchronized.
Multipath diversity effects will also be investigated and how correlation is done. Also, an estimation of the average BER vs. SNR for different modulation schemes with different number of RAKE receiver’s fingers will be reported.
CHAPTER 3 - Extension of above studies in MIMO systems
After investigating all the above tasks, the results of them will be simulated for different MIMO systems (i.e. 2x2, 3x3, etc.) and report the differences that will be presented.
