G'day to you. I have lived with an Aussie couple from Melbourne for almost a year . They have served in the Philippines as VIDA volunteers. As such, I have gotten used to Australian accent. I speak with them everyday so I reckon I can understand pretty well how Australians converse. I have been their translator when they go to local communities from Filipino to English and vice versa, and also when they facilitate a 3-day training, I translate for the participants from Aussie accent English to Filipino.
