Mechanical Housing For A Desktop ‘Guitar Neck’ Electronic Ornament Hi there, I am looking to make a desktop ornament that looks like the neck of a guitar. (Please see attached sketch - If you google guitar neck and look at the images you will get a better idea). I have sketched out a basic design as an example. This sketch is for reference only, as I would something that looks a lot more stylish. The sizes are approximate and can be adjusted as required. Product : The finished product will have 6 strings to simulate strings on a guitar. (see sketch). It will also sit on a desktop so it must not fall over i.e. it needs a heavy stable base. At a later stage some electronics will be fitted into product: estimated PCB size 25mm X 40mm. Also there will need to be provision at the back for a DC power socket. Material: Aluminum or steel. Manufacturing Process: No tooling required, machined / laser cut / bent. Finish: As yet the finish is undetermined. The product must look premium quality and expensive. It may be plated, power coated, painted, anodised or a combination. (open for suggestions). Number of Parts: Ideally the assembly will be a two part ‘shell’ assembly. Note : it will have to house some electronics. Design For Manufacture: As stated, the design must look premium quality and expensive, however it should be very easy to produce utilising modern manufacturing processes. Project Outputs T o provide Solidworks 3D sketches / drawings of two stylish designs with recommended metal finishes. On the preferred design provide basic mechanical fixing mechanics for the two (or three) ‘shell’ parts. To Provide Solidworks STEP files, DXF and 2D pdf drawings of the parts. If successful there will be a phase two of this project to add the detail for the electronics and power input etc .
