Directory app - iPhone/ Android

Overview We are looking to develop a cross platform mobile app. The app must run on iOS and Android, and links to an existing website. The app is a directory that allows the user to search a database of company entries. Each company has a profile page with information about the company and options to call or email the company. The app should function offline, but data is fed from an online database. Therefore, the app must periodically connect to the database and download it to a local space on the phone. The app will comprise the following pages: - splash screen - home page with search form - about page (reached from home page icon) - search results page - company profile page - "get a quote" email form SEARCH RESULTS Entries in search results can be "enhanced" showing an icon and small description, or "standard" showing just the name. Entries will all have a "more info" button that will reveal the company profile page. COMPANY PROFILE PAGE From the profile page, the user can skip forwards and backwards to other entries in the list of search results Buttons are available for CALL, EMAIL and GET A QUOTE Full wireframes and design assets will be provided. Contact us for more information if required. More Detail This mobile application is designed to complement an existing website and online database. The client will provide a web service through which data can be up and downloaded. Functionality provided by the application includes company search, list and detail functionality along with simple ‘Get a quote’ data collection form. The ‘Get a quote’ data collection is an essential and valuable piece of functionality but only needs to send an email to the appropriate parties. The application is required to work when the device is offline. Therefore the application should be capable of downloading periodical updates to a locally stored database. It is important for the application to record as many usage stats as possible and to upload the information via the web service. Your code should therefore allow for the storing of stat data if a device is offline; and to automatically upload stats when a connection is available. The wireframes have been presented as mock-ups of an iPhone interface; however, the application should be developed in a cross platform manner for deployment on the iPhone & Android devices. Design look & feel The client will provide final designs that indicate the exact layout and design of the pages, but your development should include the HTML & CSS to match our designs. Technical The app is to be built using cross platform technology to support iPhone & Android devices ? The application download size should be no larger than 20mb (or the most recent limit defined by manufacture specifications) ? The application should be capable of running search, list and detail views while the device is offline ? The two home page search text boxes should support predictive searching from the local database ? No variables are to be hard coded - all settings and labels should be stored in configuration files ? No company logo images are to be stored locally. Logos should only be available from the web service when the device is online. This is a requirement to help keep the application file size to a minimum. ? The ‘Call’ button should only be available if there is a phone number available for the company in question ? Elements such as device keyboards or modal pickers are an assumed requirement and are therefore not depicted in the wireframes. The following button clicks and info should be logged and uploaded to the web service: o ‘More info’ button clicks – to record the date/time, company name & company ID o ‘Call’ button clicks – to record the number called, date/time, company name & company ID o ‘Email’ button clicks – to record the email address, date/time, company name & company ID o ‘Get a quote’ – submission clicks to records the name, number, option selection and comments
