Need to read/modify/write to the 8 Mb NOR boot image chip on a Freescale MPC5200 based board. Product is the p2Engine by brightstar engineering. Specifically trying to read and write to the SecSi 256 byte sector which is not write protected from the factory or by the vendor. I have identified a section of code in a software package for the board that directs it to read that section then rewrite it during the installation process so I am sure it is not write protected. I have designed (hardware and software) a CNC controller based on the MPC5200 which included a spansion mirrobit NOR flash but in 16 bit mode. I also have a JTAG debugger for the MPC5200. I have ported UBOOT and Linux to this board. What is the design environment? Is there source code available? Would you provide a board for testing/debugging? Thanks, NIck

Hello. As far I understood your problem, you need to modify the boot image to probably change the serial number for other boards? If you have the bootloader image, it would be enough to write a software to modify this image with your new serial number for each board. Is there in the sofware package a flash programing software?
