I have a laravel application that we are using and the last portion of this I cannot do. So what I need is the ability to scan a drivers license in the USA (PDF417 format) and convert that to text so we can take the text that's exported and insert it into a mysql database for new customers. I would prefer this to be in PHP, but if it includes javascript then that is fine too. The barcode will be read from a webcam. Your job will be to just create this script that exports the data, allow me to test before milestone is released. mpdf is a PHP library to convert html to pdf file. There is a function that creates barcodes in mpdf. It already has EAN13, ISBN, QR Code, etc.. but it doesnt have PDF417 barcode type. The site will be offering more different services including selling of the templates, option to just fill details and buy ...want they fill in the respective details required per id/dl type and you have to remember that all states in the us have different fields. once they enter all the details and upload the images the next step is for the front side of the id to be generated. Now the tricky part is the backside and this is the barcode generation that's found on all USA dl/ids. from the information on the front side a pdf417 barcode should be generated. a reference site is that generates the barcodes. I'm currently using python zxing to read barcodes from images (via pip3 install zxing) under Linux environment. However, the barcode has to be extremely clear and free from skew for zxing to detect the barcode (even in try-harder mode) I need a new solution/library or some kind of image pre-processing to greatly improve the detection rate of barcode.
