1) I definitely go for quality over quantity; usually editing about three pages per hour (though if an article is well-written I can proofread about fifteen pages per hour). 2) I'd prefer not to be paid hourly for this reason. I generally charge $10 per 1,000 words. However, this can change a large amount in both directions depending on how many errors per 1,000 words there are. If you'd like, I can edit a free sample of approximately 1,000 words and get back to you on the cost.
