I want a JavaScript function which does a search/replace on a block of text. This is a tricky "Generated Regex" task so you must be a Regex Guru!! I have a dictionary of terms and want to generate a Regex to locate simplified versions of each in plain text or HTMl, replacing them with the complete version. For example, we have a dictionary term "Aḥmad" (with dotted 'ḥ'). The regex would replace all iterations of "Ahmad" with "Aḥmad". That would require generating a regex for "Aḥmad" something like: [login to view URL](/A[h|ḥ]mad/g, "Aḥmad") For a full description, see the GitHub repository I created for this script: [login to view URL]

Hi, My name is Elias Hamaz and I can write a script in Perl to replace words. I would like to add this suggestion to the ways of doing this: 1: Create regular expressions by script for each dictionary term. This will require defined groups of characters known to be found in the same place in words. 2: Load the text into RAM. 3: Search the text for each dictionary term's regular expression and replace with the complete version of the word.
