2 small change - Joomla component

I need 2 small changes to a component on a Joomla site. The component is AKReservations. [url removed, login to view] It is already instaled and operational.
I need to integrate an anti spam technique such as capture to help with all the spam that comes through the component. [url removed, login to view]
Captcha is already able to be used in Joomla. I just need it added to the AKReservations component.
Also, for some reason the component sends about 20 emails out to people who have registered. It's not supposed to send that many. I need this fixed. (Possibly a setting somwhere I can't find).
This project may lead to more (similar) work in the future
