TrendFriend is looking for a highly motivated programmer(s) who can focus on this project first. You must excel in PHP, JAVA, MYSQL and most importantly understand how to use all functions of twitter api. (Honestly this project could take a multitude of skills and you must be proficient in twitter and Facebook api. We have a decent start but it might take a bit to learn the current code which is OK.)
We currently have the ability to scan and rank a database of 28k hashtags in trending order by # of tweets utilizing Twitter Api, PHP (cakePHP framework). There are bugs in the scanning that need to be worked out. We have two dedicated servers to handle the data.
Current Features of the site:
- A preloaded database containing 28K keywords ready to scan. Bugs need to be worked out.
- Access twitter api to actively scan all hashtags within allowed limits. Multiple processes will be needed to scan 28K items, we have this working with bugs. 15+ processes to scan database already created) PHP heavy area. Must know php + java very well.
- Rank hastag in order of # of tweets, also showing previous rank.
- Multiple other feature which will be revealed at a later point in negotiations. A heads up...be ready for something you have not programmed before.
Already complete
- database completed including 28k keywords.
- scan algorithms PHP - have bugs but good start
- Sync 2 database together code - complete
- Cron jobs - complete (may need to tweak)
- Possible success on ranking without taking spam into count.
Areas of Concern
-Scanning too slow or not scraping all data.
-Spam, must filter spam
-Twitter limits - we scan a large number of keywords and need it scanned as fast as possible without avoiding rate limits. think multiple login tokens and multiple scans between 2 dedicated servers.)
- We build as we progress. This is an ongoing project and we must work around the limitations of the API standards. So far we can see a positive correlation and a need in the market so we will continue to invest in development.
Java, PHP, MYSQL, Twitter api.
This will be ongoing work if you fit the requirements as new features and milestones will be added. Full time employment possible by site release date. We are currently having some issues with staffing and would like to invest in new developers.
It will take some time to learn the code and locations of files but as long as you are putting 100% effort that is understandable.
