Flash Animation

We require an animation that will be used for training purposes. The illustration is to convey how a sine wave is created from a rotating element (a machine shaft). The shaft needs to rotate with a small orbit and from it a trace created that becomes a sine wave. While the end of the rotating shaft should stay fixed in the screen, the sine wave can “progress off the screen?? like a trace on an ongoing tape. A simple plot grid should be behind the trace to illustrate the mid point and amplitudes.

After several revolutions of the shaft (and several sine waves created) the orbit needs to be increased, thus increasing the amplitude of the sine wave.

Target audience will be mechanics, engineers and managers involved with maintaining machinery. The animation should provide a clear “gut level?? understanding about the relationship between a rotating element and a sine wave trace.

Graphic should be large (close to full screen), with heavy lines (so that it would be clear from the back of a room if viewed on a projector). Duration should be around a minute; segments (small amplitudes and large amplitudes) should start and end in such a way that they can be looped for a seamless, repeating look.

Animation sequence may be extended in several ways to illustrate more complex motions in the near future.
