Websocket - API

We have an app (writtin in javascript / html5 with tidesdk) that calls via ajax every 10 seconds to our api and checks for new donations.
Now we need an websocket, to remove that ajax part from the app. More then 1000+ users using this app.
I think [login to view URL] is a perfect solution for this. But we never worked with that.
The websocket must have an authentification. We use an API Key & Channel name.
If a new donation is received (Or check if the mysql_query output changed ?!) , the websocket has to push the data from mysql to the client.
