.mdm with .asp, form and query changes

I have an .asp site running on a Microsoft IIS Server with FrontPage extensions. There is a (Microsoft Access) server-side database running, with a 'back office' for the web site owners to go in and edit certain data, which is automatically added to the database. The page queries pull the data (and images, which are added from an existing image upload feature) from the database and places it in a certain order for the website viewers depending on what page they select. The database already has many fields, but we need to add more. By my count there will be 13 additional fields in one section, and 2 additional fields in another section. Each field added will need to work with the user-end form in the back office, the server-side database, and the pages with the queries, so that the data is automatically updated and also shows up on the generated pages in the correct order. This page MUST NOT be opened in Design View (Page View) of Microsoft FrontPage or it will ALTER THE CODE of the asp and render the page unusable. For a look at what we're talking about, go to [url removed, login to view] (test server). The [url removed, login to view] page (and it's subpages) is a good example of how the data is parsed by the queries. I would also like whoever takes this job to give me a basic explanation of how the database, queries, and back office work in conjunction with each other. (IE, to add a new field, does one edit the database or the back office or the page first?) We're not talking in-depth lessons here; just some basic answers that will give me a better understanding of how this works. Questions are welcome if I've left anything out.
