finishing(fixing) a commandline tool for changing a link field in rtf column in a database

I have hired a developer here on board, that has build a tool in JAVA that can read a rtf field from a database(or from path) look after a string in a link in this rtf and change the string for the link. The program does this doing well if the new string-lenght is the same then the old string. He has presented this with same lenght pathes and I have paid complete and rated him 5 points. Now, I found the issue that this not work if the lenght of the pathes are different the rtf is not build right, while the checksum has to change to the new lenght of the inserted string. The new rtf file will not correct written, he has forotten to change the checksum, so the new file(with differnt lenght sting) is not a correct RTF. He does no communicate since days, that means that I need for solving this issue some other developer. Hope he is ok. I have no opportunity to wait 5 days again, so I need a developer that can fix this small issue with handling RTF correct.

I´m sure that writing the new crc to the changed rtf is not a big point for a proffesional programmer. I found some google links that describes this, but I´m no programmer.

The code is an Eclipse project that works in connection with a config file:

serverName =localhost

database =metbase

mode =update

tablename=Inventory

column =I4260

olddata=D:\Kalibrierung\12345

newvalue=D:\Kalibrierung\123456789

pkcolumn =I4201

but he has build a mode for select, update and generate, so a simple test for an sended rtf file is easy possible. The only code I need is handling the checksum in my small project.

The complete main class has under 300 lines of code. I think this is not a big task, to change that it works correct.

If you are willing to help I can send the code and an sample rtf file recently.

Thanks

This was the old task, that complete has all functions, but without needed CRC writing from rtf.

I need a 32-bit commandline tool, that can read a special BLOB column from an odbc database and change link parts.

In this BLOB field is an RTF file that has an embedded LINK in it. Target of the tool is to find all Links with the OLD_PATH and change them to NEW_PATH.

I would start the tool with commandline parameter or with an config file, it does´nt matter.

I need the parameters:

- connection string(DSN/USER/PASS)

- database

- column

- OLD_PATH string

- NEW_PATH string

The tool has to find all OLD_PATH matches in column(BLOB with embedded Link in RTF) from database and change this to NEW_PATH. The database and an example for the connection string are provided for project start to dispose. Please ask before if there any informations missing.

best solution would be a tool written in JAVA. I need the source and a binary for windows.

attached you will find a sample that is the varchar content from database field
This is saved as rtf the attached before.rtf
and in this the embedded link has changed. The functionality to change is there - if I change for example:

oldPath: c:\test\1234\
to
newPath d:\tset\1234\

all is perfect, but if I change:

oldPath: c:\test\1234\
to
newPath d:\tset\123456\

than the link is corrupted.

Hope that somone can fix it.
Couldt It be that this is not possible with JAVA???
