Automobile Heater Core Replacement

I need help and your tools, your garage, and your expertise along with my own expert assistance to replace the heater core in my high mileage 1998 Volkswagen Passat. I would attempt this project myself but do not have an adequate space nor all of the tools needed to drop the dash to replace the core. It's a good car and may actually have quite a bit of life still to go. Repaired the air conditioner which required draining the cooling system and that I think is what changed the ecosystem enough to cause the core to spring a leak. Life dictates that we can't afford the local garage estimate to replace a $35 dollar part. Will travel the east coast for the right mechanic.
