Image manipulation: Expand or compliment ''Batch Process'' style control in Abobe Photoshop

I have thousands of color image files exported from digital video that I need to batch manipulate resize (and sometimes other things such as recolor, etc.) and the bring into one large Adobe Photoshop file. The mulitples of images will sit in a series of grids of 7 across and 20 down. I then will have these large files printed out to paper or possibly plastic. the scale of the paper will be anywhere from 4 feet x 6 feet to Billboard size.

## Deliverables

I need an efficient way to batch import large numbers of image files into one file, in a grid structure (that I can control the x, y dimensions of each individual file and the space between the images). It must be a file type that can be recognized and compatible with Adobe Photoshop. These images will eventually be printed out, so I don't want to lose any of the image datas' quality. Currently there is an option in Abobe Photoshop where you can batch import individual files into a "contact sheet". This is similar to what I need, but Photoshop does not offer the ability to control the x,y axis of each image. I need to be able to determine the spacing to create specific setting for rows or columns of images. On the batch import I would also like to be able to control the image size (dimensions) that they can be imported in as. It will save me one extra step (batch process) that I have to do in Adobe Photoshop before I bring them into the grid.

Coder must be flexible and willing to be in contact with me help clarify possible details for adjustments for what is needed for this project. The description for what is needed is clear, but I am not sure of the breadth and speficis of what the program could look like.
