Townhouse on the riverbank

Contest Brief

We would like to build a townhouse on the riverbank. The plot is really small (please see the attached sketch) therefore we have to build upward. Besides the general rooms there are additional requirements: a garage for two cars, a small elevator, a staircase (no circular staircase), a roof-top garden with a whirlpool, a barbecue area, sundeck. There should be a groundfloor (with the garage), 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor and the roof-top should be on the 4th floor.

What we like:
a modern eye-catcher home, with bright and light rooms, large window fronts, clean and architectural way of construction and design (cubistic, triangular).

Knock our socks off! :-)

I think there was a cheating in this contest!!!. The winner proposal does not meet the specifications of the contest: plot dimensions, program, the river, a terrace deck and garden in the roof, elevator, etc.

haha* I like the house in the movie "the island" also all sort of Sci-Fi movies. As we are living in a medieval city, a mix between super futuristic and medieval would be cool.

Hello. Rectangle 800x880 cm is a lot or a building possible perimeter? Is there a need to leave a space at any side? Is it possible to create garage in basement with 0 ground level area loss?

    1. cthaus

800x880 is the max. area. There is no need you leave a space at any side, according to municipal guidelines. So you are free to be creative within the 800x880cm. Of course it is possible to put the garage into the basement, but I don't have any idea how.

Are there any municipal guidelines to be aware of? Can windows be opened to all 4 sides? What's in the neighboring spaces?

    1. cthaus

There are no municipal guidelines which should we consider in this stage. Windows can be opened to all sides. At the front side there is the river, at the backside the street, left there is a 5m wide garden then a house and on the right side there is a municipal green area.
