Contest Brief

What we have here is a little more than a competition – we’re looking for someone to work with ongoing as our head designer to create our corporate identity, advertising material, instagram posts and web graphics – and all the while ensuring brand consistency.

So, in order to prove your skills, we are running a design comp with a better award than most comps. We need a logo for “Marry Kiss or Kill” (or Marry Kiss Kill or MKK) for an app we have built. The app is a dating “game” similar to Tinder with the swipe left and right for matches, but we’ve extended it to Marry (or romantically date), Kiss (or hook up like Tinder) or Kill (which is reject).

We need a text based logo – and the fonts you use must be listed in your description. We need an Icon which can either be text based (MKK) or image based. If you choose image based, no knives or blood or death – “Kill” is more like ghosting or rejecting but in a friendly and manner - happy ghosts! Image based icons can be either original art or come from commercial icon sites like flaticon.com but if you use a commercial icon you are required to reference it in your description with a link to the icons on the web.

The winning designer will need to provided an hourly rate for ongoing work so make sure your freelancer profile is up to date with your hourly contract rates. The first task for the winning designer will be do create a complete brand identity and fonts, colors, images and videos (from istock or similar), doodles and fine lines – and obviously incorporating your logo. This will be additional work and income, it is not required as part of the competition.

Please keep designs simple, clean and friendly – remember, this is a game and needs to reflect FUN.

    Hi guys, thanks heaps for everyone's involvement - over 400 entries in 24 hours, WOW!

    A few notes,
    1. Preference will be given to icon based logos over MKK logos – MKK on its own doesn’t mean anything but if you’re doing an MKK text based submission, make sure it is MKK – not KMK as many have submitted
    2. Your logo needs to tell a story, all three elements need to be clearly represented
    3. Please don’t submit your logo multiple times in various colors – we can fine turn the colors once we have chosen a winner.

    Finally, I’ve had many requests to seal this comp – and I will, but only with 24 hours remaining. This is to encourage crowd collaboration in the evolution of the brand identity. If you’re concerned your logo will be copied – you’re at liberty to seal your own submission, or wait until I seal the whole competition in 24 hours.
