Design me a Scene that can be imported into my Unity Game

  • Status: Closed
  • Prize: £200

Contest Brief

We have a simple block stacking game. The game mechanics are in place, now I would like you to do the graphic design for me.

The contest is guaranteed. I also have budget to buy further entries for $120 USD each if I like them. If your entry is selected, you may be asked to make minor amendments (max 2 hrs).

The game is to be used for corporate communication experiments, and is for an adult audience. So designs should be professional, detailed and enhance the experience of playing the game.

The design should contain two elements:

The blocks:-

These should be compatible with the scene you create. There are only 3 blocks in the illustration video but your design should incorporate at least 8 blocks. There should be at least 4 different shapes of block, and 4 different colours. Material, colour palette etc if up to you. For 'scale' assume the sides of the yellow block in the video are about 30cm. But this if flexiable.

The Scene:

- Give participants a sense they are playing a professionally designed corporate training game
- Give focus to the blocks and playing area, that is not be overly distracting
- Give participants a sense they are 'somewhere else'
- Work if the participants spin 360
- Help promote a creative, calm and innovate mindset
- Note: While participants can spin and look up and down, they cannot move position

For inspiration you could look at spaces that would encourage to think creatively or inspire you.

You can choose to base your scene on one of these themes:-

Minimalistic Creative Corporate Space

Participants might be immersed in a creative corporate space. Modern architecture, bean bags, post it notes on the wall, bright chairs, glass whiteboards. It’s up to you :)

Outdoor Retreat

Maybe participants are playing the game on the beach, with the sea in one direction and palm trees in the other. Perhaps there's a beach hut. Maybe the sun is setting. Or maybe they are in the mountains playing on the grass. Perhaps there are some trees in the background, or snowfall on some high peaks.

You will be asked to supply the files in .fbx.

Please ask any questions to clarify.

Two files are attached. A video of the game play and a sketch of the scene.

*Edit: I have added a colour palette you may (not mandatory) wish to consider if you are doing the corporate scene.

Hi Malek, Both your entries were excellent and were of a good enough quality to win the prize. Entry #21 , the quality is excellent and we particularly liked the creative blocks. In fact this was the best block design of all. The scene was judged too dark and basement like for a corporate and more a 'gaming' environment. Entry #29 again excellent, good choice of blocks and looked like it was well programmed.

Hi Freelancers, Many thanks for all you entries. We have awarded the prize. The winning entry was very creative, tightly alligned with the brief and technically sound. Entries from @joeyabuki @MajidAbdulla63 and @mha56ee5ffda2b7e
were also of prize winning quality. If anyone would like specific feedback on their entry please post here, or DM me and I will provide. Thanks again for all your hardwork.

Thanks for all the entries. It's really important to look at the video and powerpoint in the uploaded files otherwise your entry won't qualify. The scene needs the three elements outlined in the .ppt - play area, mid ground and background.

Hi Yashmit, thank you very much for your designs. I think #6 is the most suitable so far. If you want to make improvements thenI suggest you make the blocks more 'stackable'. I think it would be quite difficult to make towers from your selection.

Hello, I'd like to know, are limited to the 2 themes you specified or can we provided another theme, if its still on the otherwordly/calm feel?

To further clarify - the design can be cutting edge and modern. But not futuristic in a sci-fi sense. Calm is important, but an environment to promote innovation and creatively is equally important.

Please look at the video of the game in action, there are two elements to design: a) the scene, this is the major part of the project b) the blocks, this should be a very quick job. really you just need to decide the colours etc.

Hi Misal. I'm not sure I understand your question. A couple of clarifications that might help: Participant is defined as a game player. The only task that participants need to complete is stacking the block. Designers who are entering this competition need to design a scene and design the blocks. Does that help? If not please ask for more clarification.

Hi Mrunal, Thanks for the question. The game is just a normal browser based game, using mouse and keys to stack the blocks. There is no VR or AR component. It is a very simple game.
