Contest Brief

I need a sprite sheet for a main character of a video game. Must have front, back, and side to side walking frames. Please see provided file for an example of how a sprite sheet is set up.

This character has to be no more than 128 pixels in height and no less than 96 pixels in height. The character should be as realistic as possible while maintaining that classic pixel art look. The game is set after a zombie apocalypse in the real world so the character should have realistic clothing, etc, the only requirement here is the character must have a backpack on.

Deliverables must be in .png format with a transparent background. See provided file.

I also like the idea of the character wearing a baseball cap. I left you a private message as well.

Hi! Is there a limit to the number of colors we should use for the sprite? Should we used subdued colors, or do you have a specific color palette in mind?

Also, I have a few questions about the character itself. Is it male or female? How old should the character be? Are they college types, should they look grizzly or fierce, or maybe even helpless-looking? Is the character design up to us? Should it be identical to the sample you have provided?

    Thanks!

I've submitted a final version, #13 . You can also view it animated at http://i.imgur.com/xKDBu2i.gif -- The externally-hosted version also seems to be much clearer (there are some pixelated artifacts in #13 that are *not* present in my original output).

my sample is originally an animated gif, so, if you're interested, i could send it directly to you (+sheet), so you can check what it really looks like

do you require the exact numbers of sprites as shown in the example or more. Also is pixelated 3d ok? or just pixelated 2D. I can do both.

Could it be possible to have a sample of the world the character will be placed in.

The art for the world of the game is not really finalized yet, and if I like a particular artists style for this character contest I will attempt to commission them to complete it. I will post an example scene tonight using the character from the sample sprite sheet so you can get somewhat of an idea. I will let you know when it is up.
